Description:
Temple jewellery, often described to as Kemp jewellery is a very unique and labor-intensive art form. Originally designed to decorate Indian royalty before being presented to temples, the motifs were then adopted by temple dancers and eventually became a part of indian woman's bridal jewellery trousseau.
Before glass cabochons known as Kemps were set in gold and were prized heirloom ornaments. Kemp refers to the colour red in various Indian languages, however kemp stones could also be green or blue. Regrettably, today's kemp jewellery is constructed of copper or iron replicas with gold gloss and glass stones. Kemp Jewellery has floral pattern studded with emerald in the middle and surrounded by glittering ruby stones. It base is decorated with pearl hangings. Earrings are floral pattern and nicely complements the neckset.
